Proposal and procedure for Project # 2
                   AIM:Which Focal length produces the best Bokeh effect?           

1.who is your model(s)? anybody outside of Photography class _____________________
2.how will you pose your subject? (posing video) take only from chest up "go close" and the background should be at least ___ feet away.
3.where will you be taking the photo? Indoor or outdoor

shoot in AV mode - model standing 90 degrees away from the light source (big window) the room will be dark to use available soft light.

Mp1 test part 1: taking photos in Manual mode

MP1 Test part 1: Exposure - Value of light

Do now: Take a picture on your SD card & origami crane with your name and class on the wing. send picture to mcsmphoto@gmail.com subject AJS11-0_ Your name Test part 1

 Classwork: MP1 test part 1 Practice with try it on this virtual camera from CANON

2 uploaded and shared in MP1 album.


Each table will have up to 3 pairs ... Pair#1:  Pair# 2  pair # 3
          ( one photographer & lighting assistant)

one of you will come up and pick up the camera with your ID.
you will be the one to return the camera at the end... so make sure you let the other classmate go first each student will have 5 to 10 minutes to complete taking the picture.

first thing first take out your SD card ... then check the lens to see if it's in MF mode not AF.

then check to see if the camera will record your test in Raw +L  this will result in both HD and Jpeg


For this TEST project, you have to shoot your " art piece" in Manual mode only.

set the camera in the following setting!

before       (default setting)                                                              after   (adjusted setting)



In Quick Menu: set the image quality to RAW (CR2) + L  and the ISO to 800 (light sensitivity) for odd computer #
ISO 1600 (light sensitivity) for even computer #.

In Aperture Mode : Adjust the f-stop to F/7.1 for (odd#)F/13 (even#)

In Shutter Speed Mode: Adjust the shutter speed or exposure to 1/60 sec(odd#) 1/100 sec for (even#)

Take one in this setting. if the picture comes out too bright or too dark. you may NEED to make some adjustments to obtain a properly exposed photo without flash.

Finish with DSLR picture # 26 (hard light),  # 27 (soft light), # 28 (transmitted light), # 29 (reflected light) shot in MANUAL mode.

HW: update album and make sure you have your SD card for Test part 1.
