Organizing Documents Part II - Project

Project

In this assignment, you will apply all that you have learned about modifying layer visibility, and destructive and non-destructive editing tools.  You will need to use Photoshop to perform these tasks. Make sure you save your Photoshop documents as .psd files once you are done. In some steps, you may be required to take screenshots after completing each step and save them as image files or add them to a Word/PPT document.

  1. Open an image in Photoshop and duplicate the layer. Demonstrate the differences between adjusting the layer's opacity and adjusting the fill opacity by adding objects and effects to the layers. Make sure you save the Photoshop file once you are done. (Take a screenshot of both layers once the task is complete.)
  2. Open an image of a person or object in Photoshop. Create a clipping mask in a rectangular shape so that it isolates the person or object on your image. Make sure you save the Photoshop file once you are done. (Take a screenshot once the task is complete.)
  3. In a PPT or Word document, create a comparison table of destructive and non-destructive edits. List the main differences between the two types of editing. List the common tools that fall under each category, and explain why those tools are destructive or non-destructive.
