Organizing Documents Part I - Project 6

In this assignment, you will apply all that you have learned about using layers to manage the design elements of a document. You will need to use Photoshop to perform these tasks. In the last module, you created a birthday card in Photoshop. You can use the same .psd file to do the following tasks. Take screenshots after completing each step and save them as image files or add them to a Word/PPT document.

  1. Open your Photoshop document and duplicate one of the existing layers. Rename the layer with the word “Duplicate” added to the title and hide the new layer. (Take a screenshot once the task is complete.)
  2. Next, create a layer group and organize all of your layers into groups. (Take a screenshot once the task is complete.)
  3. Select all the shape layers in your document and link them to each other. (Take a screenshot once the task is complete. The screenshot should show the link icons next to the linked layers.)
  4. Demonstrate how you can merge all the layers in your document while still being able to edit the original layers. Also, flatten the document into a separate layer. (Take a screenshot of the merged and the flattened layer once the task is complete.)
  5. Take screenshots of 3 different types of layers and explain how you can identify them. (You can save the screenshot in a Word/PPT document and add your explanations in the document.)
